Before you head off on your vacation, make sure you check off the following items:
- If you will going on a trip, out of the country. Make sure your passport is up to date and that you have the necessary visas for your destination. If you are just staying in the US have your id and itinerary packed.
- If you need cash go to your bank or ATM and withdraw enough cash and/or credit/debit cards to cover your expenses.
- Make sure you have copies of your travel documents and any insurance information. (Your airline tickets, car rental, theme park tickets, hotel address)
- Pack any necessary medications and bring a first aid kit. Be sure you have the right size if the medications will be on a carry on to get through TSA.
- Check the weather report for your destination and pack accordingly. Even if it will be sunny I still always pack a compact umbrella and a poncho. You can get ponchos at Dollar Tree.
- Double-check all your reservations, such as flights, hotels, and car rentals. To save time you can check in early on the airlines app.
- Contact your bank or credit card company to let them know about your travel plans. You don’t want to be without your money while you travel.
- Make sure your phone is charged and you have any necessary international roaming plans. Bring portable chargers for your phone or tablet. Bring international charging devices. There are some that will charge multiple devices and have the universal outlet for international outlets.
- Bring a list of emergency contacts, including family, a doctor, and your embassy. Be sure to call or text someone and let them know where you will be in case they are contacted.
- Make sure you’re aware of any customs or restrictions of the country you’re visiting. Be sure you know what that country traditions are. Please be mindful of that country’s customs.
- Ladies bring a doorstop alarm and a door wedge. Anything else that can be discretely used as a weapon.
